Getting Around in Limassol
It is easy to get around in Limassol as it is a relatively small city and also very easy to learn. Limassol has 4 main roads almost running in parallel and crossing the city from West to East. Starting from the South part of the city and goind North we have:
The avenue running parallel to the beach. Starts from the small roundout of Limassol old port going (always following the coast line) outside of Limassol. Its naming is separated into a number of parts: Spyrou Araouzou then Christodoulou Hadjipavlou, then Octovriou 28.
The main Limassol avenue: Makarios III Avenue. Running almost through the center of the city.
The relatively new, Spyros Kyprianou Avenue (otherwise known as Makedonias Avenue) which again crosses the city from West to East.
And finally, the highway, which, with its newly completed bridges, allows traffic going from Paphos to Nicosia (and vice versa) to bypass the 6 round abouts.
You will never find a huge traffic in Limassol. Especially, now, with the introduction of the highway bridges, bottlenecks are reduced to a minimum.
Even if you don’t have your own car to travel around Limassol there is a very good taxi system as you can find a taxi almost instantly. There is also a moderate bus service running from 7am to 7pm with busses crossing the town from one end to the other.

Places to Visit Around Limassol

- Amathus Ruins: Amathus is flagged as one of the ancient kingdom cities of Cyprus and its ruins date back as far as the 9th century BC. A very intriguing place to visit indeed.
- Curium Amphitheatre: situated on a mountain top over Episcopi’s main public beach area, just off the old coast road between the city of Paphos and Limassol, is the perfect place to go for open-air theatrical and musical performances of all kinds.
- Kolossi Castle: A full standing castle in Kolossi village with history as far back as King Richard the Lionhearted. Another must-see monument.

For those who like to party, or just to chill out with friends and have some fun, bars and pubs in Limassol stay open until 2am. And there are lots of them. Most of these have big screens for watching sports events (mainly).
The Limassol Tourist Area boasts a number of night clubs with varied types of music from house, trance, R & B to more classics of the 80s – 90s and also Latin music. There is also at least one gay nightclub.

Limassol Shopping Markets
Limassol has 3 markets that are taking place regularly. These are:
- The Flea Market (leads to the market’s website): Held in Fasouri area, here you can find all sorts of things. It occupies a large area where retailers set up their shops for offering their goods to the consumer. It is on every saturday and sunday (and some public holidays) and it is open from 9 in the morning until 7 in the afternoon.
- The Car Boot Sale: Held in Linopetra area, here you can also find a lot of small and large items. This is on every saturday from 8 in the morning until 1 after noon.
- The Fruit and Vegetable Market: Held near the Limassol Central Bus Station, it offers what the name says. This is on daily.
Sports and Leisure Activities in Limassol
Being a city next to the sea, it is naturally expected that Limassol offers a lot of sporting, water sports and leisure activities. You can find a diversity of water sport locations available throughout many of the main beaches along Limassol’s coast line.
